Almora is a wonderful place to conveniently enjoy the spectacular snowscape of the central Himalayas. Most of the days in Almora are flawless. Almost everyday the tourist can see almost every peak. Almora allows you to enjoy the mighty Himalayas together with ridge after ridge of hills.The terraced fields, the stone slatted barrack-like village houses have so far put up a valiant fight against the encroachments of urban expansion and unplanned development. Bageshwar and Sitalakhet are other places of tourist interest. Bageshwar is one of the main camping sites for the journey to Pindari Glacier, which is situated at a height of 3,820 meters.Sitlakhet is the new tourist resort on the Syahi Devi hill. Kafni Glacier is also close by(around 3,870 meters above sea level).
On the banks of Gomti (a local river) Baijnath is situated in Garur Valley, is an idyllic place. It is famous for its 13th century temples. Jageshwar has Shiva temples and is on the Almora-Pithoragarh road and is situated in a densely wooded beautiful narrow valley. They are a marvel to see for their artistic beauty and craftsmanship. Jageshwar is among the 12-jyotir lingas in the country.
The Nanda Devi temple in the heart of the Almora city is very famous. Almora has a museum that is a storehouse of information about the cultural heritage of Kumaon. There is a deer park on the outskirts of Almora.

How to go Almora from Delhi
There are so many ways to reach Almora. It is 13 km from Binsar, 16 km from Mukteshwar, 24 km from Ranikhet, 90 km from Kathgodam, 127 km Pantnagar, 380 km Delhi, 415 km from Dehradun, 466 km from Lucknow. Almora is connected with Delhi all 3 medium by Bus, by Train and by Air
Nearest railway station from Almora is at Haldwani before Kathgodam Station. It is about 90 km away from the city and can be covered in almost two hours. The service of the trains is really good and it is well connected to many other cities such as Moradabad, Delhi, Haridwar and Bareilly etc. The best way to reach Almora from Haldwani Station is that from 'Haldwani taxi station' you get into a shared Alto or Sumo's vehicle which will charge Rs. 150 to Rs. 200 per person depending on the kind of bargaining you can do.
Almora is connected with Delhi by Uttaranchal State Road Transport Corporation buses and Private Bus services on a regular basis.
The nearest airport to Almora is at Pantnagar, the seat of a famous agricultural university, about 127 KMs from Almora and it takes around 4 hours to reach. Served only by Jagson Airline, handling approximately 6 scheduled flights a week.
