Dehradun, the capital city of Uttarakhand, is located in the Garhwal region of India. In the Doon Valley, Dehradun is situated on the foothills of the Himalayas in between two mighty rivers namely the Ganges on the east and the Yamuna on the west. Dehradun is well connected with other popular destinations such as Mussoorie, Nainital, Auli, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Sahastradhara, Chakrata and Dakpathar besides the Himalayan pilgrimage circuit of Char Dham.
Dehradun is one visual treat as its got scenic beauty, sports, sanctuary, museums and institutions all at one place. Tourists can engage themselves in various activities such as camping, rafting, trekking, rock climbing, mountain biking, etc. Besides all this, they can witness an architectural extravaganza by visiting Tapkeshwar Temple, Malsi Deer Park, Kalanga Monument, Laxman Siddh, Chandrabani, Guchhupani, Forest Research Institute, Tapovan, Santala Devi temple and Wadia Institute. Dehradun can be visited in any season; however, it is best to visit in September - October (temp. 2-20°C) and March - April (temp. 40°C).
