Diverse in topography, the district of Pauri garhwal varies from the foothills of the Tarai areasof Kotdwar to the soul-lifting meadows of Doodhatoli, sprawling at an altitude of 3.000 mts., wihich remain snowbound during the winter months. Pauri Garhwal is ringed by the districts of Chamoli, Almora, Nainital, Bijnor, Haridwar, Dehradun Rudraprayag and Tehri Garhwal. Filled with places of tourist interest, most locations in Pauri offer a breathtaking view of the snow-laden Himalayan splendour.
Situataed at an elevation of 1814 mts. above sea-level on the northern slopes of Kandoliya hills, Pauri is the headquarter of the district Pauri Garhwal and the Garhwal Division.
Pauri provides a panoramic view of the snow clad Himalayan peaks of Bandar Poonch, Swarga-Rohini, Jonli, Gangotri Group, Jogin Group, Thalaiya-Sagar, Kedarnath, Kharcha Kund, Sumeru, Satopanth, Chaukhamba, Neelkanth, Ghoriparvat, Hathiparvat, Nandadevi & Trisul.

Places to Visit in Pauri
Kandoliya (2 kms): The temple dedicated to Kandoliya Devta, a folk deity is located on the Lansdowne road amidst scenic surroundings.
Chaukhamba Viewpoint (4 kms): The ridge overlooks the splendid Idwal valley and Chaukhamba Peak.
Kyunkaleshwar Mahadev: The 8th century Shiva temple affords stunning views of the snow-clad peaks.
Khirsu (19 kms): The serene site at a height of 1,700 metres affords a fine view of the snow-clad mountains. The ancient temple of Ghandiyal Devta is worth visiting. Located nearby are oak and deodar forests and apple orchards. More about Khirsu
Jwalpa Devi Temple (34 kms): The pilgrim site lies on the main Pauri Kotdwar road. During 'Navaratras', a special festival is held here which is attended by large number of devotees.
Tarakund: The charming site has a small lake and an ancient temple. It is also known for the Teej Festival.
Kotdwar : Kotdwar, 108 kms from Pauri is one of the rail terminus for Garhwal region.
Siddhibali Temple: Famous temple of Lord Hanuman.
Durga Devi Temple: It is one of the important shrines of the town, situated near Duggada on Kotdwar-Pauri road.
