Udaipur "The City of Lakes" is located on an average elevation of about 1,962 ft in western India in the beautiful state of Rajasthan. It is about 403 kilometres southwest of the state capital, Jaipur. Udaipur is famously called Venice of the East and The city of Romance. Udaipur is the historic capital of the kingdom of Mewar that was founded in 1559 by Maharana Udai Singh II, father of Maharana Pratap. The city is renowned for having the longest ruling dynasty in the world as the descendants still retain their positions.

Apart from its history, Udaipur is famous for its culture, and scenic locations. It is often called the "Venice of the East" or "The city of Romance" besides "The City of Lakes". It has five major lakes, namely, Fateh Sagar Lake, Rangsagar Lake, Pichola Lake, Swaroopsagar Lake, Dudh Talai Lake and Udaisagar Lake which are maintained under the National Lake Conservation Plan (NLCP) of the Government of India. .
